Cycling

Cycling in Donegal is now high on the list for tourists to our county. Doherty Farm Holiday homes is an ideal base for cycling, Glenveagh National Park, Derryveagh Mountain range, Fanad Head, Rosguill Peninsula and Horn Head,  to name but a few.  

Electric Bikes  are rented from Grassroutes Electric Bikes.  You need to pre book the bikes with the bike company prior to your holiday and the bikes will be delivered to the cottage for your requested days.  Demand for the electric bikes is high so make sure that you have pre booked.

Peddle Bicycle Hire is also available locally or rough mountain bicycle trail is also available in the area – 10mins drive from Cottages.

Golf

Noted Tourist attractions are Rosapenna Golf links, namely, the Sandy Hills Course and the Old Tom Morris Course, both 18-hole courses

Now with the New Harry Blaney Bridge opened over Mulroy Bay Portsalon Golf Course is only a 15 minute drive. = Photo Blaney Bridge

The other Two Golf Courses within the locality are Letterkenny and Dunfanaghy all within a 30 minute drive.

Pitch and Putt, Crazy Golf and Tennis are available at Rosapenna Pitch and Putt Centre.

Walking in the area

Walking guide booklets “Dander’s around Downing’s” and “Rambles around Rosguill” are on sale and available in the shops locally.

Together with the heritage trails in the Rosguill and Fanad Peninsula’s catchment areas.

Bird watching

Along Carrigart Strand and other areas within the Rosguill and Fanad peninsulas are a birdwatchers heaven; do keep an eye out for the Golden Eagle who has been regularly spotted as our location is used by them as a fly out area.
